Find Us Faithful - May 1 Readings: 1 Corinthians 4

Context

One of the issues in Corinth was self-appointed apostles, men who set themselves up as spiritual leaders and opposed the teachings of Paul. This battles becomes especially sharp in 2 Corinthians and Paul spends large sections of that book defending his apostleship. But in chapter 4 he defends himself and describes both himself and Apollos as simple servants of God.

Devotional - Find Us Faithful

Do you have what it takes to be successful in the eyes of God, in the work of God? We make that such a complicated thing in Christian world today. One must have great talent, deep knowledge, skills and expertise. We've made Christian service a maze which one must navigate.

It's really much more simple than that. Certainly there are skills that can help us in the work, but at the root, at the core, is one simple characteristic. Faithfulness. 1 Corinthians 4:2 says,
"In this regard, it is expected of managers that each one of them be found faithful."
We are stewards of God's gifts and our duty is to simply be faithful to God and to the work he has given us. We must be steadfast in our commitment to him, loyal to the work of his kingdom. Remember Romans 12:1. God didn't ask for our talents or abilities, but simply our bodies as sacrifices, given completely to his service.

Regardless of how talented we might or might not be, how much we have, or don't have, by way of resources, may we be faithful to him in all things.
Father, whatever else, may you find me faithful!
Think and Pray

Are you faithful to the ministry that God has called and gifted you to do?
