Here are the Scriptures for the day. I hope you will forgive me. I spent my time today on the Christmas Eve service and some family things. I'm afraid I don't have much of a devotional left in me.
But I did see something I found interesting. While I am still sleeping off yesterday's events, trying to recover, my wife will be up getting ready for the day. Proverbs 31 is the ode to the virtuous woman. today's reading says,
She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from far away. She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and portions for her female servants. She evaluates a field and buys it; she plants a vineyard with her earnings.
I don't know about "far away" - Walmart and Hy Vee are fairly close. But she does get up while it is still night and make food. We've got no female servants and she does not buy fields or plant vineyards, but she works hard to make this house a home.
So, Jenni, have a very Merry Christmas. Thanks for everything.
I'm going to bed folks.
Father, bless all who read your Word and love your Son. May our Christmas celebrations be focused on the one who gives us true joy and peace, the baby who is Lord of all.
