Life doesn't come with guarantees. Sometimes everything works out and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you get the answer and sometimes you have to await eternity for justice and reward.
Sometimes God steps in by his power and glory and corrects everything - he punishes those who have done wrong, restores what has been taken away, blesses those who have been hurt. That's what happened to Job. In chapter 42, God made all things new for him, giving him a double blessing. He had twice as much of everything God had blessed him with before. Of course, nothing could ever replace the children he had lost, but God did give him 10 more to give joy to his heart. Sometimes it works out that way.
Sometimes, it doesn't happen until eternity. The Bible tells of many people who faithfully served him and got imprisoned, mistreated, persecuted and even executed for their faith. Sometimes it takes until eternity for God to bring justice, to reward the righteous and punish evildoers.
But whether it takes place in the here and now or in the sweet by and by, the fact is that God is going to bring perfect justice into every situation. Is there someone who is mistreating you? Endure in faith and keep serving God, knowing that God will sustain you and whether now or then he will bring justice. Is life painful right now? Hold on! One day, God will make everything right. It might not be until glory, but it will be worth it all when you see Jesus.
Hold on. Don't give up. God is at work - he is just and he is good. Trust him. In his time, he will work it all out for you. It may not be as glorious as the resolution of Job's struggles, but you will see the goodness of God.
Father, thank you for loving me. Help me to hold on in your service and not to give up. Too often I focus on my problems instead of on the certainty of your love and justice.
