John 14 is a scriptural mountaintop. It is all about the peace God gives in tough times. Jesus was about to die and the disciples' lives would be shattered. But he told them he was leaving them peace.
How? How could they find peace in such troubled times?
1) Jesus was going to the Cross to prepare a way for them to go to heaven.
2) Jesus was all they needed, the only way to God, the revelation of truth and the source of true life. They needed nothing but Jesus. 14:6
3) Through Jesus' name they could pray and the Father would answer their prayers 14:13
4) Jesus would send the Holy Spirit to be in them, to empower them and to guide them. Jesus wasn't leaving them alone.
He sums it all up this way:
"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful."Father, thank you for providing all I need to have peace in this troubled world.
